Sometimes we need to pause and reset. It is okay to take a mental health day.
That’s why I have created a list of 51 self-care ideas that you can do on your mental health day. You can do most of them without anyone else or any money, from the comfort of your cozy home! 100% lockdown-friendly!
Remember, self-care is not a luxury. It is a necessity. You don’t need to feel guilty for taking some time for yourself. If you don’t, you won’t be an effective employee, a good friend, or a loving family member. How can you love others or be the best version of you if your cup is empty?
Please, take time to just love yourself, your body, and your mind.

51 Simple Self-Care Ideas
- Do yoga
- Meditate
- Make a gratitude list – and commit to doing it everyday
- Try EFT
- Go for a walk in nature (wear a mask!)
- Put on a face mask
- Take a long, hot bubble bath with candles and music
- Make infused water and DRINK it 🙂
- Try Pranama (deep breathing)
- Write down what you love about yourself
- Stay off your phone
- Express yourself through creativity – paint, draw, doodle, etc
- Make a vision board
- Create a morning routine
- Create a night routine
- Send people you love nice messages/emails/texts
- Journal your feelings – brain dump or try clearing out what is bothering you
- Listen to your favorite podcast
- Take a nap
- Do a workout challenge – 100 pushups/abs/etc
- Write down your goals for this year
- Script. Write down your dream life. Include every detail that you can. Where do you live? What does your house look like? What is the furniture like? What do you do? What are you wearing? Is it hot or cold?
- Create a couple custom affirmations for yourself and repeat them to yourself
- Make a list of your limiting beliefs and try to work through them
- Watch an inspiring TedTalk
- Eat a healthy snack
- Call a friend or family member you haven’t spoken to in a while
- Order in your favorite food
- Do a Ho’oponopo meditation
- Watch the sunrise/sunset
- Put on your favorite movie
- Celebrate someone – send them a text, email, or letter of appreciation!
- Cook a healthy meal (for later or for now! Meal prep?)
- Unplug from social media – Read my experience on deleting Instagram for a month!
- Forgive someone – think about a time that someone hurt you, or you hurt yourself. Put your hand to your heart and feel yourself release the resentment and forgive them
- Make a cup of coffee/tea and sip it mindfully – without doing anything else
- Make a list of things that make you happy
- Take care of your skin – put on a face mask, moisturize your legs, do that luxurious skincare regimen you have been procrastinating on
- Unfollow mute/unfriend any accounts that don’t make you feel GOOD on social media
- Clear out negativity – anything around your house, on your phone, in your car that does not make you feel good or has bad memories.
- Read a book – Here’s a list of my favorites!
- Clean something and as you are, imagine you are cleaning all the negative thoughts away
- Stretch!
- Go to bed early
- Listen to music – focus on the beats, the lyrics, the tune. Just listen without multitasking.
- Put on makeup and dress up and feel amazing about yourself!
- Create a do-able self-care routine that works for you, based on your current goals!
- Start a bullet journal!
- Go on a photo walk
- Put on your favorite music and just DANCE!
- Sign up for a free manifestation training!
