‘Tis the season of thanksgiving, which is the perfect reminder to practice gratitude!
This blog post is going to be short – rather than create a list, I just want to share my heart.
Being a self-love and mindset coach, I work a lot with the narratives we tell ourselves. And unfortunately most of us tell ourselves A LOT of crap. The power of gratitude is more than just feeling happy.
(You can read my blog post on limiting beliefs here).
Feeling grateful helps you shift your negative mindset into a positive one. You allow yourself to open your eyes to all the GOOD things in life.

The Power of Gratitude
What Our Reality Looks Like Depends on Us
And what we see in life is up to us. Don’t believe me? Our brain can intake 11 million bits of information every second. But our conscious minds can handle only 40 to 50 bits of information a second.
So what does that mean?
Basically, that means that the reality we live in is just a part of the real reality. So depending what you focus on, your entire perception of reality could shift.
Everyone has a shitty side to their life. Everyone has some good sides.
Maybe to the outside person, someone’s life looks prettier. But that is because they are focusing on the good in the other person’s life and the bad in their life.
What does this have to do with the power of gratitude?
Practicing being grateful can help you focus on what is good in your life. As you build this practice, you will notice more things that you can be grateful for. That’s why it seems like if you practice gratitude, more good will come into your life. In reality, you are just shifting focusing on the good stuff that was there regardless.

It is like you were blind, and now you see all the good stuff. It doesn’t mean that it wasn’t there earlier. It just means that you NOW see it.
So How Can You Practice Gratefulness?
If you aren’t used to it, it can be challenging.
But let’s make it simple.
Try to think of one thing you are grateful for every day.
When you do this, focus on the FEELING. Don’t just list it out.
One mistake many people do is try to list out as many things as they can think of, without any feeling. That is just a list – not a gratefulness practice. Gratefulness without emotion is empty.
Once you get used to finding and feeling one grateful thing each day, you can try to up it to 3 things. And then 3 things in the morning and 3 things at night.
Gratefulness Rant
What I love to do now is just go on a rant at any point in the day. I’ll be drinking my coffee, and I’ll think – “I am so grateful for this delicious coffee today. I am so grateful for a warm drink on this cold day. I am so grateful for the pretty weather. I am so grateful for my warm hoodie. I am so grateful for how my cute hoodie makes me feel cute and cozy at the same time.” And I go on and on… as long as I hold onto that feeling of gratefulness.
And that is something I’d love for you to focus on today, or this month. What if you were seeing things differently? What if all you wanted to feel in the future, you could right now?
What’s the Difference Between You Right Now and in Your Dream Life?
I know you want to be happy in your dream life. You want to be successful, free, and abundant. BUT the key is — how do you know you will be happy THEN, when you have all the stuff?
The only way to know you are happy is to feel it, right? I could give you $100,000 right now, but how do you know that will make you happy? If a huge pile of cash is just sitting in front of you, will you be happy?
Not unless you really feel grateful for it, right? If you stop for a moment and think – wow, I love this! Thank you! Let that emotion spread across your body, and run through it. Only when you really FEEL that emotion, will it stick, right?
Happiness and gratefulness isn’t an emotion that is driven by an external factor. Even if I gift you a new Tesla right now, the only reason you feel happy is because you (internally) decide to let yourself feel happy and grateful. You imagine yourself driving the Tesla, and that might make you happy. Or, the fact that you have a really expensive car makes you feel happy.
So what is stopping you from feeling those feelings right now? Maybe the object of gratitude is different (rather than $10,000 it is your comfy jeans), but you can STILL embody that feeling.
And the amazing power of gratitude is that as you practice it, you will see more of the good in your life. Your conscious mind will see all your blessings, and you will feel as if your life has radically shifted.
The Power of Gratitude in Action
So here is my challenge for you: whether you just say one thing you are grateful for today, or if you go on gratitude rants multiple times a day, aim to have a practice gratefulness at least once every day, for 21 days. This will rewire your neuro-pathways, and help you bring more amazing things into your life!
Tell me how it goes! <3
Love,
Tanvi

I love the idea of a Gratefulness Rant! Brilliant!
thank you! I hope you can use it whenever you feel low!
I also believe strongly in the power of gratitude. I try to spend a few minutes on gratitude meditation every night before sleep. I love the idea of gratitude rant too! I will try it today!
That’s a great practice! That means it is getting stored in your subconscious while you sleep, which is SO powerful!
Taking the time to be grateful has long been a regular part of my routine. I think it’s so important to realize what you have instead of wishing for more, more, more! Thanks so much for sharing these tips.
Yes it is! And when you have more, how do you know you will be happier if you can’t be happy now?
Gratitude is such a strong emotion. Instead of wishing for more we should appreciate what we have especially if there are people in the world or not as lucky as we are.
exactly! gratitude is really powerful
I love this!! Our thoughts are so powerful and focusing on gratitude can really be life changing. Such a great read!
